Profile:
Gerry Matzen grew up in northern Germany with only his mother and sister. His father had been killed in a car crash when Gerry was 9 years old due to the airbag failing to deploy. After the traumatizing incident, Gerry's mother did not want him or his sister anywhere near a car, for she feared that something similar to their father's incident would happen to both of them. The relationship between Gerry and his mother was always very heated and argumentative. His mother took away the TV because she was afraid he would get inspired to be a race driver from all of the racing endurance series he watched. However, it was too late; Gerry was already focused on building his racing career when he was finally able to move out.
Six months after turning 18, he was able to finally move out. He had saved up quite a bit of money from working at a hardware store and managing to get a good position for his job, so he put some of it towards an apartment and most of the rest towards his racing career. He started out racing in a one-make GT Junior class. He started off sluggish and near the back of the pack, which got him fired off his first team after only one season. A team that could barely afford to stay in the series hired him, hoping that he would be the underdog to pull them back up. Surely enough, he had managed to score all podiums that season, most of them being race wins. It was even enough to win him and the team their first championship.
Gerry raced in GT Junior for many more seasons before finally moving up to GT4 class when he was 21. It wouldn't be long before his continuous win streak would have GTE-Am teams looking his way, and would give him his first opportunity in the Aeternam Euro Sportscar Series. Unfortunately not long after his recruitment, the team he was hired by had gone bankrupt and his decisions on where to go in his racing career would be put right in front of him once again. Wherever he goes, he hopes to give it his all to make himself proud of the achievements he's earned despite his early and consistent discouragement from his loved ones.
RP Notes:
- Has a very low and soft, yet confident tone in his speech.
- Very polite towards others, but very serious. Always tends to take sarcasm or joking very literally.
- Tries to bring peace to everything; usually if there's an argument between two drivers, he's usually the first to come in to try and break it up.
- Hard on himself if he makes a mistake.
