I have a suggestion that I would like opinion and potentially approval on regarding liveries...
I have never, and will never, charge real money for the liveries I have made for other people. I do it because I enjoy making them and like having 1 to work on at all times, so charging money for these designs would drastically limit how many requests are made / accepted. They do however take a reasonable amount of time to make, especially since my poor wife gets neglected the evenings or weekends when I am working on them.
Given that finances are set to play a big role in GRL however, I wondered whether the time could be repaid in a small way using team finances? Only relatively small amounts would be needed, so those making the request haven't got to break the bank, and those able to make liveries make enough to feel slight reward for effort but not enough to dominate the leagues through upgrades.
I would do pricing based on each request and scaled to the time / effort required. As a general starting point, recreating a known livery could be 50,000 CR whilst coming up with an entirely fresh design would be in the region of 100,000 CR - obviously very welcome to input on the kinds of quotes people would be happiest with! As I say, that would change based on what people were after, because 50,000 CR for recreating a livery with just 1 base colour and a number of logo's would be valued differently to a very complex existing livery, would be less again than coming up with an entirely new design with a range of ideas involved.
So what would thoughts on this be? Is it unfair to claim in game money for livery work? Would people use money in-game to come up with designs? And do those who have already made designs for others think it is fair / reasonable to seek reward for their time?
