Summary:
"Sway with the wind, but never forget your roots."
Little Ayu comes from a family who were descendants of an ancient tribe whose name translates roughly as "Great Wind Stream". That tribe believed that it was in human nature to wander where the wind would take them, and so they did. Nomads and merchants at heart, the members of the tribe brought and simultaneously sought the great treasure of wisdom wherever they went. The modern-day Sepang family aren't that much different from their ancestors.
Ayu, her parents, and her older sister Seri were huge fans of motorsport; they fell in love with the festival-like atmosphere of the J-Speed GT Masters every time the series was broadcast live in their hometown, not very far away from the amusingly-named Sepang International Circuit. It was at that point that Seri wanted to become a racer. After securing some funds for a few third-hand racing karts, Seri and her family wandered the numerous kart racing circuits of Asia, looking to pick up wisdom wherever they raced. Even without any major successes, she was having the time of her life. But it was not to last.
Coming home from a World Grand Prix event, the car holding Ayu, Seri, and their parents ended up being T-boned at a great speed, killing everyone in the car... except (at the time 5-years-old) Ayu, who survived the wreck miraculously with only cuts and bruises. With nobody else in the Sepang family living nearby, Ayu had to be given up to an orphanage. Away from the world of racing with no one to turn towards, Ayu found herself isolated from the other children there. It seemed like Ayu would never roam the world ever again.
Ayu's fortunes would change several months after the horrific wreck that destroyed both her childhood and her family. Peter Bathurst, an Australian Touring Car legend, had been seeking potential prospects for candidates in his newly founded driver development program. Hearing of the horrifying news surrounding the crash, Peter spent months tracking down Ayu's location and understanding her story. On Ayu's sixth birthday, she was formally adopted by the Bathurst family. After her adoption, Ayu told Peter that she wanted to become a racing driver, just as her late older sister Seri had been.
Ayu believed that as long as she was still alive, her late sister's dream of having a member of the Sepang family race at the top echelons of the motorsport world could be realized. Despite being skeptical of Ayu's ability to become a racer due to her frail nature, Peter taught many of his greatest racing secrets to Ayu... and then realized while guiding her kart racing career, he had accidentally created a racing prodigy. In 2014, Ayu made the history books by becoming the youngest-ever driver to compete in the Australian Formula C league, and then cemented her reputation a year later by winning the championship. The winds had finally gifted her with a great fortune, but with even bigger dreams to aim for, Ayu has left her Australian nest, seemingly guided by the spirits of her former family looking from worlds beyond.
Roleplaying Notes:
- Ayu can sometimes come across as incredibly spiritual for someone her age; it almost seems like she lets a greater nature guide her life path. Whether or not she can actually sense 'evil' or 'good' in someone is up for debate, but Ayu does a convincing job.
- Standing at a height of only 4 feet, 9 inches, Ayu is incredibly tiny. Oddly enough, taller drivers don't intimidate her, but due to her short height, Ayu is often mistaken for a child several years younger.
- Despite being a former priestess, she is still a child at heart, and is remarkably naive and innocent.
- Ayu strongly believes that as long as she is alive, so are the spirits of her fallen family members. To her, their dreams are hers as well.
- Ayu takes after her adopted father's example quite a bit - even though her hiring costs and % earnings per race are quite high, nearly all of that CR she "earns" is either donated to charities or used to buy all sorts of supplies to help those who are not as fortunate as she is.
- Despite losing her both her parents and her only sibling, Ayu has basically no angst over it in the present-day. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE HER ANGST.
SPECIAL LIMITATION: Due to Ayu's frail nature, if you enter her in a League where the race length is greater than an hour, Ayu will need a second driver to share the car with her. Before each round in the League, you must choose between using the second driver or Ayu's stats. You must pick Ayu's stats for less than half of the rounds in that League, to simulate the fact that Ayu cannot race for long periods of time.
