Summary:
"Some say that what his car feels and what he feels are the same emotionally. Others say that if you give him something that's pink, it will last twice as long as it did before. All we know is - his name's Madoka."
Madoka Matsumori is not this driver's real name, but a variety of social circumstances has led him to try to live out his motorsport dreams in secretive shame. Some would argue he's emotionally overly sensitive, others say he's merely doing his best to show empathy. It shows in his racing style - reasonably competent, and able to get his car home in one piece, but often, his anxiety and lacking self-esteem would overwhelm Madoka and demote far down the order.
As a small child, Madoka loved racing video games. He was obsessed with Racing Passion, a Japanese-developed racing simulation that at the time was the highest profile game for the J-Speed Association GT Masters. He loved the crazy power and cornering agility the top-level machines offered, and it became Madoka's dream to be a racer in that series himself, even if he were some backmarker pay driver. But he was also bullied a lot in his school years, enough that when he went to college, he wore a racing helmet to conceal his identity.
At the age of 20, Madoka graduated from a trade school and began working for Americana Motorsports. He loved working on the cars, even as 'just' a lowly junior mechanic. But a greater fire soon burned in him, and he spent the next three years struggling on his own at the grassroots level. 2015 was a breakthrough year for Madoka, however - having been at the exact right place at the right time, he replaced a driver who was recently banned from the ARPA GTX Endurance Runoffs. To everyone's surprise, Madoka was fast, and he was smooth, too. But his anxiety while leading races would come back to bite him in the ass again and again - a driver who in theory should have dominated the championship ended up finishing out the season in a lowly 6th of 16, and he got thrown out. Now, he looks to GRL to give himself one last shot at making his dreams come true.
Roleplaying Notes:
- Socially awkward, especially dislikes talking in open, public spaces.
- Almost always wears his helmet even when not racing - it's the same style of helmet used by "The Gank" in his favorite British TV show, The Overdrive Tour.
- Madoka's prized possession is a Haruna Tsuchigami plush doll he picked up from an anime convention in his home country. He's a huge fan of all things cute, much to his own embarrassment.
- Can shift between sounding girly and back to (kinda) masculine on-the-fly - a key brand of his sense of humor.
