Summary:
Delayna's life is, despite state records, currently unknown beyond herself. She was found, abandoned, on the grounds of Darlington Raceway near the grandstands by a construction worker, and was taken to the local hospital. There she was checked out and given the name, in time, she answers to today. An orphan, she was always relatively cold toward people, and yet at a young age developed a very stern, foreboding, and at times malevolent nature. As she aged she also developed an appreciation, and expectation, of old-world "proper" behavior, and took her own idea of "Lady-like pagentry". Confused? So were we, until we met her properly.
When out in public, Delayna is almost always seen wearing black dresses. Designs and accessories are chosen on feeling at the moment, but black is essential and absolute. During the very hot summer months, she may opt for white clothing underneath, but even then a black dress is the outermost layer, which has lead to locals dubbing her "The Lady in Black". Possessing raven hair, very pale skintone, and piercing "asphalt" gray eyes, and makeup that accentuates those details, her ensemble would be easiest described as a 'Ghastly Goth' look, and she has no intention of being any other way. Up to now she had worked as a seamstress and made many of her own clothes, but as her interactions with people became more strained she looked elsewhere for pretty much everything...and was lead back to Darlington Raceway. Around her 17th birthday, she was found at the track with no one around, and when staff on hand tried to talk to her, some knowing who she was, the response they got was in a tone far more confident and a few tones deeper than the one they thought they knew.
Since that event, Delayna believes that she is the track's spirit manifested and personified, and refers to the track as 'Home'. She began persuing a racing career as soon as she found contacts, and in the local circuits, including her namesake, there are some who question her mentality...before they have to deal with her on track. A number of peers believe her, reportedly one actually moved west after claiming "she was everywhere, including the walls". Others are fearful of dealing with her face-to-face after an incident where one driver thought Delayna would fall for his sleazy "charm". She promptly told him off, and when he didn't relent, medics were able to patch his face up but couldn't do anything about that "Fear of God" he kept mumbling to himself.
Rest assured, this is a lady who takes no bull from anyone, and isn't afraid to make you feel her presence when you go too far.
