Hi everyone!
I know it's been a really long time since we've done anything with these forums. Since the end of Season 2, my priority for Racing Heart Universe is to do everything right first and foremost. Over the last few months, I have learned a lot about modding the rFactor platform.
So... what's changed, what's in progress?
Welcome Rebellion and Dotty!
Over the course of the off-season, Kainé-sama ("Dotty") and RebelMist have joined alongside me to assist with the technical tasks associated with running the recently rebranded Racing Heart Universe.
Dotty has been a huge help in reworking the physics of the GTE PRO cars, making them more like modern GTE and Super GT machinery. He's developed an all-new aero package which makes more than 1.5 times the downforce of the old PRO cars, and largely removes the "low rider" setup that many teams employed throughout Season 2.
Rebellion's done a huge amount behind the scenes himself, having helped out with visual changes and conversions of new cars for use in GTE PRO.
Rebranding of GRL into Racing Heart Universe
Some of you might have noticed a few weeks ago that GRL was very quietly rebranded into Racing Heart Motorsport Universe. This is no hostile takeover. Somewhere down the line, I'd like to turn this place into a hub for motorsport and street racing fan fiction; the GRL project just so happens to be the centerpiece right now.
Addressing the Hiatus
Why the hiatus, some will ask. Season 2 caused a lot of burnout for me, and managing everything was a major stressor both on myself as well as the community. Issues were cropping up every race weekend and broadcasts would often be delayed, restarted, or worse - retconned. This is no kind of mistake that I would find forgivable for an Offline Series organizer such as myself.
There's also the fact that GRL is expanding, and it's swelling in size. As a result, the amount of work the team and I have to do in order to get everything ready to an acceptable level of quality has risen eightfold, especially because we know so much more about modding the game now. I would rather start Season 3 in 2018 knowing I've prepared everything to near-perfection, knowing that RHU will not need to expand for a very long time afterwards.
