Enigma Racing
Team Manager: Kyle Fraser (Crimson Sabre)
Team Summary: Formed back in 2016, Enigma Racing is one of Britain's newer racing teams, based out of Glasgow, Scotland. Team owner/manager Kyle Fraser founded Enigma Racing after finding success as a team principal in regional touring car series in the UK.
In 2017, Enigma agreed a sponsorship deal with Aberdeen-based fuel firm Caledon Renewables, who were looking for a team to run a newly created biobutanol fuel, made from the waste byproducts of Scotch whisky. Keen to express the talents of youthful drivers on a larger stage, Enigma signed two promising Scottish talents for the 2017 season, 21-year-old Darren Shankland, and 18-year-old Lachlan Stuart.
The team took their first steps in to European touring car racing later that year with a two car effort. The debut season was successful, with both Shankland and Stuart taking race victories, as well as propelling Enigma to the team's championship. Shankland would miss out on the overall title in 2017, but would fight back to win the gold in 2018.
In 2019, Enigma took a year out of racing in order to prepare for moving in to GT racing. Specifically, they would be heading for the Aeternam Euro Series and would be taking part in the GT Challenger category. Enigma would purchase a Mclaren 650S GTC for their foray in to European GT racing in 2020, along with the pairing of Shankland and Stuart, who were both eager to prove themselves.

Profile:
Born to a family farm in Ayrshire, Darren Shankland struggled to find a personal purpose in his life due to a strict upbringing. Darren's parent's ended up going through a bitter divorce when he was 8 years old which affected him mentally. As a result, Darren went to live in Perth with his uncle Dominic, who was a former racing driver whose career was brought to a premature end back in the 1970s when his long term team went bankrupt. Together, they scraped enough money to buy a go-kart for Darren. A visit to a karting track allowed Darren to discover the purpose in his life that he was missing. Rising through the ranks of karting, Darren won numerous national championships and developed an aggressive driving technique.
When Darren turned 16, he and Dominic were able to buy a car for entering national club racing thanks to Dominic's contacts from his own racing days. Darren would spend time in club racing until 2015, where he developed his aggressive techniques before being noticed by Kyle Fraser. Darren accepted the offer of a test with Fraser's newly founded team, Enigma Racing. A sponsorship deal with the team had been secured with Aberdeen-based fuel company Caledon Renewables and Enigma were looking at developing youth on the global stage.
Darren and Dominic agreed to the deal which would see Darren entering the Touring Car Challenger Series in Europe. The 2017 season would be a baptism of fire for him, but his firebrand style of driving saw him take the runner-up spot in the championship, along with occasional race wins. Darren's biggest moment of glory would come in 2018, sealing the championship after a closely fought season.

Profile:
Lachlan Stuart is the kind of person who prefers to get on with the job and put the interests of who he is working for at the front. Despite a relatively normal upbringing in Edinburgh, Lachlan became fascinated with motorsport from a very young age and would occasionally go with his father to watch karting races. He went on to study in automotive courses in college and went and was able to soon buy a kart to go racing. Lachlan soon developed a technique of running long stints which would help in his early campaign.
After a run of 4 UK championships, Lachlan was soon noticed by Kyle Fraser who was looking for drivers to run for Enigma Racing. Lachlan agreed to drive for the team in the 2017 Touring Car Challenger series where he was partnered with Darren Shankland. The team mates would go on to have a successful campaign in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Shankland and Stuart would also become friends thanks to Lachlan's attention to detail helping the team to success.
- Quiet and reserved
- More sociable with Darren
- Goes further into detail in setups and debriefing than Darren
