LAGUNA SECA 200 MILES
Round 5 of the IMAS GT Championship
Round 5 of the IMAS GT Championship
StormSystems Raceway Laguna Seca has undergone a variety of title sponsor changes, but very little about the track's basic layout has changed since the 1990s. Small in square footage but towering in height changes, this twisty ribbon set near a dry lagoon (hence its name) is an infamously tough venue to overtake on, and even more difficult to nail an ideal setup for. Regardless of who owns the place, it's been the heart of west coast American sports car racing for over six decades. While many teams on the West Coast call this track their home, few are as beloved by the locals as Westside Motorsports, a popular grey import market distributor who also brought American region variants of the famed Honda NSX JSA-GT in 2005.
One of its more infamous moments in recent memory was the 2017 running of the Laguna Seca 200 Miles. Two unlikely contenders for the win in the form of then-newcomers Scuderia Pergusa and the underdog Steel Angel Rebellion resulted in a no-holds-barred duel between the pair. Amber Sebring and Gloria von Koenig tangled in one of the most hateful on-track battles recorded at the circuit; for the closing three laps of the event, they would edge each other out on the exit of the turn 2 hairpin, before Amber was pushed wide in a last-lap, last corner turn over. Tempers flared and before Gloria's GT-R could escape, it was spun around and violently thrown into the outside wall, and it was at that moment a massive brawl in pit lane exploded.
NPCs to watch:
Scarlet Devil Raceworks have been laughable in their ability to endure the longer races thanks to a driver squad who seemed to have forgotten that they're no longer in the World Driver's Grand Prix league, but their pace is exceptionally scary. Since this race is just a single pit stop regardless of squad ability, Labelle and Wisdome have little reason to hold back. Westside Motorsports' high downforce package for the NSX may also be one to look out for if you're stuck in the middle of the pack.

REDUCED FUEL CAPACITY
In compliance with the series regulations, the following car classes have their capacity reduced:
GTE PRO: -10% fuel capacity = 76 liters (was 85)
GTE AMs have their usual fuel capacity (is 120 liters)
PRO Strategies*
Expect fuel to last to around lap 66-67 (~1h 24-28m)
A one-stop race seems like the safest way to go here, but if you're bad on wear, this will be a long race for you
Time Spent on Pit Lane
Tire changes are ~8 seconds
Filling to full fuel is about ~25 seconds
A stop in pit lane will cost you around 25 seconds PLUS pit service time
A full service (tires + full fuel) stop costs you about 59 seconds
Tire Progression on Hards
Soft tires are about ~0.7 seconds FASTER at first
Medium tires are about ~0.3 seconds FASTER at first
