FUJI STARLIGHT 500KM
Round 7 of the ataGO! J-Speed Association GT Masters
Round 7 of the ataGO! J-Speed Association GT Masters
Set in the foothills of Japan's tallest mountain, the titular Fuji Speedway is a holy ground for motorsport fans around the world. Though its winding ribbon has changed form quite drastically in pursuit of increasing safety standards, the nearly 1.5km long straight is the track's closest element to a constant defining feature. This results in a terrible dilemma for race engineers up and down the grid, as handling and top speed are at constant odds. Although owned by Toyota, the most successful manufacturer in recent years at this circuit has been Nissan. Even in their worst years, teams representing the red R emblem are feared opponents at this circuit.
The biggest feel-good moment of the 2016 J-Speed GT Masters season occurred here at the Speedway, when Moriyama Speed Shrine snapped a three year long winless drought with Jasmine Rinaldi and Richard-Jacques "RJ" Martel at the controls. They suffered an engine failure in qualifying, resulting in an early mid-race stop-and-hold penalty that demoted them to the very back of the GTE PRO field. On lap 18, Haruna Tsukishima (of Tsuchigami no Kyojin) made a critical error while attempting to lap a stricken GTE AM car down the main straight, resulting in a lane change that snapped her car violently into the left side barrier. That incident brought out a long red flag period that effectively reset the entire race. Once the race was restarted, Rinaldi and Martel picked off the remaining opposition one by one, until they inherited the lead after the HIME'S LC-F suffered a puncture with 2 laps to go.
NPCs to watch:
Expect the HIME'S Supra and Frontier GT-R to be trading top times, as the Supra and GT-R are both vehicles venerated for their straight-line speed. Moriyama Speed Shrine may also be one to watch here, as while Fuchida and Rinaldi may not be the quickest pair of hands, their ability to save tires will prove to be useful in the long 500km race format this event employs.
For once, the two junior GT-R squads in GTE AM from Tomoko and RoninForce might be a threat, as they're the fastest cars in a straight line.

Special Rules
REDUCED FUEL CAPACITY
In compliance with the series regulations, the following car classes have their capacity reduced:
GTE PRO: -25% fuel capacity = 63 liters (was 85)
GTE AM: -15% fuel capacity = 102 liters (was 120)
MANDATORY PIT STOPS
You can't have a scheduled stint go for more than 55 laps - this simulates minimum driving time for Squad members.
ENDURANCE SPECIAL EVENT
This event is longer than usual, and thus commands a slightly greater point worth for success.
27 (1st) / 24 / 21 (3rd) / 18 / 16 (5th) / 14 / 12 / 10 / 8 / 6 (10th) / 4 / 3 (12th)
2 pts for staying on the lead lap
1 pt for being one or more laps down
PRO Strategies*
{Spoiler}Expect fuel to last 48-49 laps (1h 10-14m)
Could Advanced Hybrid + Efficiency Enhance be useful for cutting down pit stop times? Remember, even though your fuel capacity is cut, the efficiency buff still works.
A one stopper is certainly doable, but if you're bad on wear, this will be a very, very long night for you
Engine power will be critical to passing cars down the main straight here
Time Spent on Pit Lane
A stop in pit lane will cost you around 24-26 seconds PLUS pit service time
Tire changes are ~8 seconds
Filling to full fuel is about ~21 seconds
A full service (tires + full fuel) stop costs you about 53-56 seconds
Tire Progression on Hards
Soft tires are about ~0.8 seconds FASTER at first
Medium tires are about ~0.2 seconds FASTER at first
1:30.7 ~ 1:31.5 -> initially
1:31.6 ~ 1:32.2 -> around 50% life
1:32.3 ~ 1:33.6 -> around 25% life
1:33.7 and worse -> 0% life remaining
Minimum Driver Conservation Stat
Tires drop below 50% life around lap 21-22 (~28-32 min) for Hards, lap 18-19 (~26-29 min) for Mediums, and lap 10-11 (13-17 min) for Softs

* Data was gathered using a 20 Speed, 20 Finesse driver - expect the actual times to be a bit slower
Notes:
1 Driver will pit in for tire wear at this point
2 Driver must pit in for refueling before this point
