J-Racing's Bizzare Adventure (GTE PRO Build Storyline)

Summit Point Motorsports Park, West Virginia

The busy goings-on of the paddock were in full swing for the late season event at the otherwise quaint forested location of the historic club circuit. Sitting in their folding chairs was the longtime married couple of Bob and and Meg Thompson, stalwarts of the east coast club racing scene for the last 30-odd years. Next to them sat a bright sky blue colored 911 of the 996 generation. Well, at least it looked like like a 996, in actuality the Thompsons have had the car for those last 30-odd years as well, originally buying off a privateer IMAS entry after it'd had already had a decade long history in the series. Over the course of those 30 years, which included a Daytona 24 Hour run where the couple got some funding for co-driving with a "no-good-lousy-cheatin'-sumbitch" (their own words), the car was it's very own turbocharged Ship of Theseus. For now the couple was taking a break from working on it, and instead turned their attention to their neighbors on the opposite side of the paddock.

They quickly recognized their neighbors as Evan Jameson and his J-Racing Adventures posse. They both remembered the first time they'd laid their eyes on Evan, a bright eyed young man who'd apparently recently struck it rich from the lottery and had enough sense to no blow it immediately, but not enough to think twice about immediately jumping into a high powered vintage Mustang and nearly writing it off in his second practice session. The first impression left them both thinking that he'd just be another guy with too much money to throw around that'd be  a danger to all the honest hard workin' folk's wallets, but he turned out be a personality was both serious about improving while still being very approachable and hard to hate. Now almost a decade later, Evan was a big-time team owner with an IMAS championship to his name, but he still made sure to keep his head to the ground and didn't let that get in the way of his relationships he'd built up.

"Looks like Evan's fixing to do another test run for the next season here" Bob said before taking a swig of the coke he had in the chair's cupholder.

Bob was looking straight at the out-of-place high-dollar hauler which was being emptied out by the uniformed J-RA personnel, Meg however took notice of the humble gooseneck parked next to it with significantly less activity going on around it.

"And looks like he's also planning to run himself in the race too" she said, pointing it out to her husband.

"I hope he got that damn Foxbody dialed in this year, last year he nearly took out his own team when they came to lap him because he couldn't hold the thing out of the turns, that Oakley fella chased him around the whole paddock after the race."

The two noticed some of the J-RA members finally averting their attention to the gooseneck and from out behind it came a man that they both recognized as Ricky Álvarez. While Ricky typically didn't come up this far up the coast, when he did he usually brought a bat-fast Corvette that rivaled the Thompson's own Porsche in how much of the original car was actually left. The immediate thought was the Evan had called up Ricky to help get the setup right on his Foxbody so that it wouldn't potentially cause the team to be down a car before the season started, so they waited in anticipation to see what changes had been made to it this year. But when the ramp opened and the crew pushed it out they were shocked to see that Evan's Foxbody had seemingly been superseded by something entirely different.

"Well I'll be" said the shocked but also impressed Meg, "looks like Evan's got himself a brand new toy."

"A Mosler too, I can't say I expected ol' Evan to trade his Foxbody for something like that, he loves that thing." Replied Bob.

"Especially trading it for something Chevy-powered, we've been known his opinion when it comes to his preferred brand of choice, I wonder where he bought it from."

The two watched as the crew removed the rear clamshell of the blank body-in-white car, and started looking over the engine compartment, it was there that something caught Meg's eye.

"Say Bob, aren't those orange wiring harnesses for a high voltage system?" Meg asked.

"Well I'd think, but I don't know what a 20 year old Mosler would be doing needing a high voltage system."

Things were starting to become more puzzling when they noticed that by the team's actual race hauler only one of their IMAS Mustangs was present today, and the crew seemingly had equipment to deal with any high voltage-related safety hazards out and ready to use.

"Well it looks like they're runnin' a hybrid this weekend, but it can't be the Mustang right, IMAS banned them in GTD for cost issues I'd heard" Bob said, remembering the discourse that'd broken out last season.

"So that leaves the Mosler as the hybrid then, but what in the lord's name would Evan be planning sticking a hybrid system into a Mosler." Meg said wracking her brain around another of Evan's hairbrained contraptions.

"Well I guess it's ain't our issue unless it blow up in front of us on track, I'm sure Evan will be ready to run his mouth about it when we get the chance to ask." Bob said, starting to get out of his chair after remembering they've got their own car to start prepping before the first practice.

"Yeah you're definitely right there dear, now let's get the ol' girl prepped so I can get out there for the early practice." said Meg, following her husband out of her chair."
