[PRE-SEASON] December 2022. Milan, Italy.
In a fair-sized warehouse near the city of Milan, the sounds of tools ratcheting and whirring could be heard mixed in with indistinct shouts and miscellaneous chatter echoing throughout the building. Maggiore Competitzione was preparing for its debut season in the IMAS Endurance Championship, and it would be the first time they has ever competed overseas. The team has been a Ferrari runner ever since its inception in European racing, run by the boisterous but ambitious Bianca Maggiore, who had just been heard frantically shouting over the phone over something that could financially set them back from entering at all.
"What do you mean the design is not to your approval?!" she began to raise her voice at the agent from Ferrari's motorsport division that had called her about the disapproval of the recently completed livery for the #88 entry. "The sponsor is paying us good money and I paid good money for this to be designed."
"Sorry ma'am, but this livery does not capture the 'Ferrari spirit'." the agent replied firmly. "If the livery is not adjusted, we'll be pulling manufacturer support from your squad."
Two engineers happened to be walking by when it started going down, and they eagerly listened in as they tried to hide themselves from being seen.
"Whaaaaat?" one engineer whispered in awe. "Ferrari can really just pull customer team support if something isn't to their liking?"
"It's f***ing Ferrari." the second engineer rolled his eyes. "They'll come knocking on your door if you're not wearing the right pair of pants in their car."
"Ohhh is that why Bianca got pulled over last month? I saw her wearing those weird purple pants when she was driving her 360 Modena. She said she got inspired to wear them from a Tripwire post by some blonde bloke"
"No you idiot, she was speeding on the freeway- wait those purple Chinos that Andreas Brunestud wears???"
"Yeahhh that guy! Her's not really chinos though, just some other kind of purple pants because she saw a bunch of hate comments roasting his outfit and decided to join him in solidarity."
"That woman really does anything to go against peoples' disapproval."
"Seems like this whole deal is no different."
"What the hell is 'Ferrari Spirit'??" Bianca continued on with fire in her voice. "Is it a f***ing ghost that's come to my garage and haunted us??? Do I need to park a blinding green Lamborghini in my warehouse to ward it off??"
"Ma'am, I understand that you're upset, but our approval of the car was in the agreement that you signed. We cannot provide support to our customers until they've been approved by us."
"Is there a problem with f***ing pizza?! It's a staple of our country's culinary offerings -- you can't get more Italian than that. What do you want, another Ferrari red car with a basic ass Italian flag on it???"
"Actually that's exactly-"
Before the agent could finish, she slammed the phone on the desk and threw herself down into her office chair, letting out a loud and irritated sigh. Anxious, confused, and irate thoughts began to circle in her head endlessly as she tried her best to collect herself. The thoughts festered until the phone ringing again pierced through them.. A still angry Bianca sprung up from her chair and immediately picks up the phone.
"What is it?" she answered with gritted teeth that were biting so hard that could shatter diamond.
"Oh, good day miss Maggiore!" an enthusiastic woman with a South-American accent replied. "You feeling okay?"
"Oh- OH!!!" Bianca's eyes widened as she completely altered her composure in a matter of milliseconds. "Yes yes yes, I'm doing just fine, just a stressful and busy day -- ehe~. This is miss Julia Ramires, correct?"
"That's me! I just wanted to confirm our meeting date for the contract. It was stated in the e-mail that it was on a Friday and I wanted to confirm which one."
"Urgh..." Bianca quietly repulsed, as the word 'contract' was a bit of a trigger word for her at the moment. "Er- ah yes yes, so sorry. I wrote that one in a hurry! Is the 7th of January okay for you?"
"That's perfect thank you so much!"
"Of course darling, you have a wonderful day."
As Bianca hung up the phone, another caller was waiting on the other line.
It was Ferrari again. She immediately obliterated the button to switch to line two with just her index finger.
"I swear to whatever deity rules this wretched earth if you tell me something is disapproved one more time-" she began to escalate one more time before being interrupted by a different voice on the line than the previous.
"Good news Bianca Maggiore." the oddly relaxed voice began. "Your design has been approved and you will continue to receive customer racing support from our team."
"Ehh???" she breathed out in utter confusion. "But the last man you had on the phone said it wasn't???"
"Well, after some discussion within our department, we realized that your car is the only Ferrari that will be entering into the IMAS series, so we thought it was worth being more lenient and letting it go ahead to represent us."
"That's it???" she questioned firmly, sounding even more confused. "That's the whole reason you all changed your minds???"
"I mean-"
"Nope, don't wanna hear it. Have a good day." Bianca assertively hung up the phone as she started to quickly gather her belongings from her desk. With everything gathered, she shot up once again and darted towards the door that she proceeded to fling wide open. The door slammed into one of the engineers that was listening with a force so great that it sent him flying to the wall behind him.
"Alright gentlemen listen up." she began speaking to the engineers, paying no mind to the fact that both of them were listening in and that one of them got launched by a solid plank of wood. "I've got an important appointment to attend to in half an hour. You guys finish up and close up shop when you're done. We've got a busy weekend of testing ahead of us."
The 'important appointment' was a drama show that she watches the episode premiere for every Wednesday evening.
