Roar Before the 24
Official pre-season testing for the 2022 IMAS Endurance Championship
Official pre-season testing for the 2022 IMAS Endurance Championship
The yearly pre-season test before the world famous 24 hour race gives teams a chance to shake off the rust and become familiar with their new machinery, setting a baseline in which they hope to further build upon for the new calendar year. The arduous preparation comes to a cinematic close as everyone including the fans gets to witness where exactly everyone lies before the big event next week, and there's no hiding any secrets this time. Free attendance and live television coverage will put any major fault not yet discovered front and center for gossip to develop, potentially weighing down the spirits of any championship hopeful.
For drivers, it's a chance to finally figure out where they stand relative to the field after all that simulator and private session testing. For teams and engineers, it puts every car on the same level playing field, giving them that last chance to figure out a strategy for the Daytona 24 -- and perhaps the rest of the season.
All eyes are on PWRBand Technica as they take REDLINE's staff and support to represent the blue and white roundel for 2022. Their preparation has been tireless as they not only look to defend the title but doing it whilst getting to grips with a completely different machine. BMW's track record in IMAS has not seen much success in the past decade, but the all-womens' team look to quell any skepticism right from the get go.
Aleph Racing Developments comes into the two week extravaganza as last year's Daytona 24 winners. It will be worth keeping an eye on them as they begin to prepare for the new season with yet another victory starting with a rigorous test at the Roar. Will their pace be clear for everyone to see, or will they keep their winning hand hidden?
And what about CoreTech and Scarlet Devil? Their new developments over the off-season after a poor 2021 will finally be displayed to the public during this test. The other teams will have to hope that they haven't worked out all the kinks just yet.
