Team Pezzarinho
Team TrackerTeam Manager:
Adrian Boddinton (Pezzarinho17) Net Handle: @aboddington
Team Summary:
Based in Surrey, UK, Team Pezzarinho are a relatively new team with a focus towards single seater racing. The team was established with an aim to develop young talents throughout the entire team, from the drivers, to their mechanics and even up to the management roles. Team Pezzarinho is the realisation of a dream for team founder Perry Brown, having felt that too many young and talented prospects for motor racing were being overlooked due to funding or lack of connection to the race teams.
With this focus in mind, Perry initially set about his dream by setting up and monitoring initiatives across schools in the United Kingdom. The intention was to allow the younger generation to be involved with Motorsports, which would eventually provide the team with gifted engineers and drivers in the not too distant future. Team Pezzarinho itself quickly followed, established on the backbone of the intelligent and driven junior proteges looking to now join a racing team itself.
When the team made it to their first race grid, an initial lack of experience was quickly replaced by the enthusiasm to all learn as 1 unit, and results improved rapidly. Expansion came with those results, and gradually over the years, Team Pezzarinho become one of the most successful teams in the UK, expanding quickly into European race series and now on the world stage. Expansion didn't just come from going global either, broadening disciplines first with Sportscar racing and using the same mentality that has already taken them forward along the single seater ladder.
As success has surrounded the team within all Motorsport ventures, the goals and ambitions have also had to progress to reflect those victories. With increased pressure from the fans, the media and themselves, the team found itself at some difficult crossroads between its traditional values, and being GRL's leading team. It was therefore decided that the best decision was to split the team to better focus on those separate targets. Perry Brown left Team Pezzarinho to build BrownGP, which will focus on the progression of junior talents, whilst Adrian Boddington joined Team Pezzarinho to not only sustain the performances come to be expected, but to build on them further and make Team Pezzarinho the dominant force of GRL.
Drivers:
Katsuo Matsushita Net Handle: @revengeofrevengance Nationality: Japanese Birthday and Age: 4th April, 25 YEARS OLD Original Avatar
Stats: Skill: 27/30 Consistency: 8/15 Preservation: 9/15 Tenacity: 12/15 Initial Hiring Cost: 2,200,000 CR
Experience Level: 52 - GOLD Driver Classification % of Earnings per Race: 50%
Specialities: Pro Tuned, Sportscars
Career: Race Starts: 27 Wins: 2 Podiums: 10 Pole Positions: 1 Total Points: 353
Summary: Katsuo Matsushita has a relatively normal and tame name, and aside from the very liberal application of various types of metal on his musical tastes, a very normal and average childhood. But you wouldn't get that impression from someone who used to compete at professional drifting competitions while hanging half of his body out and letting out an ear-searing hybrid of a banshee-like screech and a guttural beastly roar in the middle of a slide. Normally, such a stunt would be met with an instant disqualification from the competition, and for Katsuo, he would not be treated any differently.
Formerly a racer who had one half of his racing life in the not-quite-legal "touge" scene and the other half trying its damnedest to impress the judges at numerous semi-pro drifting competitions, Katsuo was good... but not a standout by any means. Sure, he was good enough to be competing at the top level of his discipline, but both on and off the track he seemed ridiculously normal. Katsuo needed something to truly make him stand out... and then he spent an entire week drowning his ears in the savage metal and drum-and-bass albums he could get his hands on.
During his week of musical immersion, Katsuo "brutalized" his drift car, smashing its panels with a hammer, lobbing bricks at it, and scraping his car keys all over; somehow these "modifications" got through tech inspection at the drift tournament later that week. Proudly showing his car's "scars", Katsuo was not satisfied. During a tandem run, he decided to pull a move no sane anybody would ever perform. Throwing his car into a massive slide, Katsuo loosened his restraints and double-flipped off the corner marshal before spinning out into the outside wall, ripping off his car's rear bumper and shattering the right tail light.
For his act of sheer insane jackassery, Katsuo was thrown out of the competition on the spot, but not before the crowd roared in absolute approval of his stunt. This is the kind of lifestyle Katsuo craves; when he's not throwing out ridiculous amounts of memorabilia to his fans, he's showcasing his brand of absolute insanity. Despite calming down considerably since that fateful day, Katsuo has set his sights on the Global Racing League to show off what he can do when his borderline-psychotic mindset focuses on more serious endeavors.
Roleplaying Notes: - Katsuo has almost no sense of self-preservation on the track. While he's not TRYING to get himself killed, he tends to do a lot of rather dangerous stunts just because he believes he can. - HAS. NO. SENSE. OF. INDOOR VOICE. At least at the track. Even in interviews, Katsuo almost always seems like he's one stupid question away from just howling at reporters. - Despite being incredibly well-known in the drifting community for being an absolute psycho, local citizens in his hometown don't seem to recognize Katsuo's infamy. This is because whenever he's at home or just running menial errands around town, he quiets down significantly.
William Manor Net Handle: @willmanor Nationality: British Birthday and Age: 20th August, 18 Years Old
Original Avatar
Stats: Skill: 27/30 Consistency: 9/15 Preservation: 10/15 Tenacity: 5/15 Initial Hiring Cost: 1,420,000 CR Experience Level: 47 - SILVER Driver Classification % of Earnings per Race: 30% Specialities: Grand Prix
Career: Race Starts: 29 Wins: 4 Podiums: 13 Pole Positions: 8 Total Points: 362
Summary: William Manor was relatively late in starting his motor racing career. Whilst most aspiring drivers have tasted karting success as young as 5 years old, William's family did not have the finances required to get William racing. Instead the lust for motor racing with the Manor family was saturated by watching races, normally on TV but occasionally in the stands as well. The school initiative introduced by Team Pezzarinho therefore spurred Williams career into life when he was 7 years old. As well as immediately lapping within a second of the local kart circuits record, William showed he was able to consistently lap strongly and ended up winning his regional final by over an entire lap. He was immediately taken into the Team Pezzarinho program and entered into numerous karting championships.
Williams career nearly ended prematurely however after a serious crash at 12 years old. Having spent a number of years racing go karts, he was invited to test and give feedback to a Formula Student team. Although an investigation later found that a suspension component had passed it's expected expiry date, a crash during the wet testing day greatly affected William's confidence when the weather begins to turn. His racing was put on hold for 6 months whilst he sought help from sports psychologists on the issue, and would later return to the circuit in the same Formula Student car in an attempt to understand and move on from the troubling incident.
William has always been focused on reaching Formula 1, but the team believe that with his career starting late and the vast talent pool hoping to reach the limited available seats at the top, that a shift to Sports Cars could see him reach higher goals. Although he had a decent debut in car racing during his opening Formula 4 championship challenge, his main rivals were younger than his 16 years and it was clear William had not completely closed the experience gap to those drivers able to go racing from the age of 5. William will therefore move onto Amateur sportscar racing in season 1 with an eye to progression in either season 2 or 3.
Roleplaying Notes: - Started career with the intention of racing single seaters, but has shifted focus to Sports Cars. - An accident early in his career in a wet race has left his confidence during wet weather needing training. - Though no history of racing existed in the Manor family before William, they have always been keen racing fans. - William was one of the first drivers to benefit from the Team Pezzarinho schooling initiative, having been touted as a potential future star aged 7.
Sophia de la Sarthe Net Handle: @ourracinghearts Nationality: French Birthday and Age: 1st July, 25 YEARS OLD Original Avatar
Stats: Skill: 30/30 Consistency: 15/15 Preservation: 15/15 Tenacity: 8/15 Initial Hiring Cost: 5,400,000 CR Experience Level: 64 - PLATINUM Driver Classification % of Earnings per Race: 80% Specialities: Grand Prix, Sports Cars
Career: Race Starts: 16 Wins: 5 Podiums: 8 Pole Positions: 10 Total Points: 273
Summary: "No matter if we are competing at the circuit, or holding hands with those we love most, there is one thing our hearts are always doing; racing."
Hailing from a family of noble descendants, the de la Sarthes' wealth spreads far and wide. Sophia's father Pierre was originally a driver for Scuderia Pergusa in its early days, competing in many Sports Car and Grand Prix races all over Europe in the late 60's and early 70's. As her name implies, Sophia grew up near the circuit that rather amusingly shared the same name as her family (despite having never actually owned it). Her childhood at the circuit is the envy of many motoring fans the world over; her early life was filled with the sights and sounds of the greatest European GT Endurance PRO cars of the era.
But it wasn't until she heard the story of the great sports car and rallying legend Marie Nogaro that Sophia became invested in the world of motorsport. The idea of winning races with someone they loved as their teammate or co-driver was something new to the racing scene, but Marie and her lover made it work, having won the MAG-Emile Global Endurance Masters twice in a row. It was like some kind of fairy tale story to Sophia, only this time instead of castles and princesses, it was race circuits and drivers. That thought was the turning point that Sophia's career began on.
Like many drivers of her skill level and age, Sophia of course rocketed her way up the national kart racing and Grand Prix racing ladders. At age 19, she moved to Japan to race in the JSA Super Grand Prix, where learning about the story of Haruna and Isamu Tsuchigami only made her fantasies about finding her true love on the race track even more vivid. Having won the Driver's Championship for Tsuchigami no Kyojin a year afterwards, it seemed like Sophia had finally found her place. Rather than further her racing pursuits, however, she elected to take a break from full-time competition for a few years.
A career change to becoming a model rather than a racer had a few unplanned consequences, however. Underneath the bulky and baggy racing overalls, Sophia hid a curvy figure that was considered exotic by her new-found Japanese fan base. Alongside her brief but successful partnership with Fanservice Magazine, suddenly Sophia was the center of attention no matter where she went. Unsure of her future as a model, however, in 2014 she quit modeling to race once again. Ultimately a wandering, purple-prose kind of romantic at heart, Sophia seeks a guy worth loving more than she is a World Championship trophy (though that would be nice to have too). Roleplaying Notes: - A total flirt, but despite being a former model, gets absolutely lost when actually trying to appeal to someone. - Sophia tends to get embarrassed when in silly lovey-dovey things, but it's more of a "What should do I do next!?" kind rather than a "Why is he making me do this!?" kind of deal. - Tends to daydream a lot about romantic things in her day-to-day activities. - Will happily support just about any romantic couple on her teams, current or former. - Has a younger sister named Louise who is also a racer.
Halley Rockford Net Handle: @therockford997 Nationality: American Birthday and Age: 1st January, 21 YEARS OLD Original Avatar
Stats: Skill: 27/30 Consistency: 9/15 Preservation: 10/15 Tenacity: 12/15 Initial Hiring Cost: 2,590,000 CR Experience Level: 54 - GOLD Driver Classification % of Earnings per Race: 50% Specialities: Sports Cars, Grand Prix
Career: Race Starts: 17 Wins: 6 Podiums: 11 Pole Positions: 5 Total Points: 323
Summary:
Be careful talking about cars with Halley, because the conversation might go on for who knows how long. Halley has been obsessed with cars ever since she was in primary school. She didn't really have very many friends in her early years of grade school because of her "strange" obsession with cars, but now being in GRL, she has plenty of room to talk about her #1 favorite thing. She owns a couple of cars she found from the junkyard and is now restoring them to better shape than they were before (and proceed with caution when talking about her rides. That's another long conversation you just earned).
Her dream was to be in the heat of all the action in the race; in other words, become a driver. Unlike most, she didn't start out karting. Halley used to compete in GT-Am in another league, and has well improved over her seasons there. However, she was so good that the league always inspected her team and the cars to see if any unfair advantages had been made. The league also fined her many times because she was snooping around in teams' garages checking out the cars that she was going against. The league suspected her of trying to relay information of the other teams' cars back to her own, but in reality it was just because of her fascination of cars.
Now she is looking to join a team, preferably in S2 when GT-Pro is getting started.
Roleplaying Notes: -Loves to talk about cars... a lot... maybe a little too much. -When on the topic of cars and parts, tends to get energetic talk really fast. -Always gives her own name to the car she's driving, regardless if there's a name for the chassis. -From the southeast USA, so she has a bit of a southern accent, y'see. -One of the shorter drivers. About 5'2" in height.

'I miss my office' - a thought that I had never suspected I would find myself saying in my head. Working from home had seemed like a pleasant strategy initially, but in reality I couldn't host the meetings I had scheduled in my own lounge... So here I was, in a small rented office whilst the Team Pezzarinho factory gets it's much needed makeover and extension. I could see the work from this office too as I sat there looking forward to wandering through the race bays and feeling the feverish buzz of frenetic work throughout the facility.
I wondered whether my longing for my own office was also a manifestation of procrastination. 'These decisions won't make themselves Perry! Crack on...'. I had never feared making the big decisions, but this one concerned 2 drivers I had come to know very well even after just 1 season. Katsuo and William would both be stopping by today, but I had a feeling one of them may come away feeling a lot better than the other. I wasn't firing anyone, but it maybe wasn't the news he would be expecting despite doing my best to pre-emptively combat any negative thoughts they might have...
A knock at the door dragged me back to todays agenda. As I had done in Suzuka, I was talking to both drivers at the same time so as not to find myself repeating the same words over. I knew who it was from the heaviness in the sound that carried around the small room. Sure enough, Halley arrived first.
"Perry, Howdee! Great to see ya."
"Welcome to the UK Halley! Please, have a seat. I'm sorry we are meeting here and not at the factory as previously arranged-"
"I cain't lie, I'm dissappoined I cain't see the Ferrari's again today! I even hoped they might be taken aparrt a bit to see what goin on inside! Always enjoyed seein a V8 motor in the skin an always will. Y'all runnin the Hewlann sequential box or retrofitted your'own? I seen one once-
"Yes, there will be plenty of time to have a look around the race bays. We're just waiting for-"
Just 2 soft taps on the door were all it took to alert me to the presence of our second attendee. I hoped my hair wasn't being out of line like it was in Japan...
"Sophia, so glad you could make it!"
...Was what I had hoped to say, but my brain opted instead for a series of low grunts and grinds. Something like changing gears without engaging the clutch. I had survived a close call with the wife when I had told her who we were signing before leaving for Japan. I had endured a long silence when she had asked me how the "interview" had gone. I felt sure World War III would break out if she happened to drop by the office today. I'm sure the dress had carefully been selected for the occasion, accenting all of her... assets, starting late and ending soon. It couldn't be coincidence that it matched the team blue as well could it? Her hair had looked stunning in Japan as well, but now away from the rain I could see all of the intricate layers of red making their way delicately past her cheek and down towards her lightly tanned shoulders.
"Monsieur, eet is nice to meet you once again. Do you ave a sore throat?-"
"Nope, I'm fine. Now. It was just... It doesn't matter... I, erm. Please. Sit."
She even made sitting down look good. There was a way she glided across to the seat, and an elegance in how she sat down, adjusted her dress and crossed her legs. None of this had escaped Halley either and I was instantly glad I wasn't the only one feeling nervous in Sophia's presence. It was incredible to believe she was one of the most sought after racing drivers, but you would have to be to give up on a modelling career looking like you could own any runway.
"Ladies, today is about laying out my plans for the year ahead. None of this is set in stone yet as we are waiting for the leagues confirmation on a few deals, and I must also insist that you do not share any of this until we break the news ourselves. Katsuo and William will join us shortly both to meet you and also so that all of our drivers know this plan at the same time. We'll get to all of that once they arrive though, firstly do you have any questions?"
Halley's hand shot up. Really, hand raising?
"Questions that aren't about cars? And you don't have to raise hands here Halley, please."
Halley went red and lowered her hand, I hadn't meant to come across as mean...
"We'll get to the car questions later Halley. I just wanted to talk to you both as friends and make you feel welcome into our team today. If there are no questions then-"
"Ooh iz going to be ze lead driverr?"
"Y'all cain't juss walk in here an demannd y'all the lead!"
"Ladies! We don't have lead drivers here! If- and only IF- one driver is mathematically out then we might ask you to help your team mates out. But I don't expect either of you will have that problem and certainly not this season - you won't be driving in the same classes."
That seemed to get their attention. Even Sophia's softness had made way for a curious look.
"The guys have really done us proud this year. Katsuo is our first champion, and William our first race winner. But Katsuo is impetuous..." I made sure I looked at Sophia's reaction as I said that, before looking over to Halley. "... and William is timid. You are both here because you are great drivers make no doubt about that. But you were selected to shape an overall team..."
Both smiled. Perfect. Gods above, she is just so perfect... NO, I MEAN, Erm- they were hooked...
To be continued.

Team Pezzarinho Announce New Engineering StructureAfter a largely successful trial at the recent opening J-Speed GT Masters round, Team Pezzarinho have today confirmed the new engineering structure which will see each driver allocated a race engineer. These race engineers will report to a garage engineer, focusing on individual classes / divisions and ensuring the right information is passed from each driver to the other.
"Team Pezzarinho is excited to announce new additions within the engineering department and their new roles. As part of our impressive expansion heading into the season at our Headquarters in Surrey, you may have already seen more faces around the garages in Adelaide. The drivers are well known already, but the engineers are our secret weapon moving forward.
"Adrian Newton was crucial to our efforts in winning the Aeternam Championships, and we are delighted to announce he has remained within the team for the upcoming season. Adrian will be one of our 2 Garage Engineers overseeing both the Pro Endurance and the Super Continental Grand Prix programs. Alongside Adrian and overseeing both the Am Endurance and Tuner categories, we are pleased to announce Natasha Aldani has joined Team Pezzarinho.
"As well as providing each class with a Garage Engineer, each driver will now have their own Race Engineer in all the events they take part in this season. Naoki Kawashiro joins as Race Engineer to Katsuo Matsushita and Ginette Martel will be Sophia de la Sarthe's Race Engineer. Naoki and Ginette will report up to Adrian Newton as their Garage Engineer. Lindsey MacDougall and Simona Kriz will become William Manor and Halley Rockford's Race Engineers respectively, and will both report up to Natasha Aldani.
"Team Pezzarinho welcomes all of our new additions to the team, and look forward to once again leading the way within the Global Racing League."
Perry Brown Team Manager

The affect Long Beach had at Team Pezzarinho. William Manor has taken some time for himself and chose to stay in Long Beach a couple of days. Although not our business to track our drivers during their own personal time, we have been asked why he spent 40 hours sat on a bench outside "Aquarium of the Pacific"... He has no memory of this though, says he was in the gym. Katsuo Matsushita didn't come back to the garage after his engine failure, choosing instead to go straight back to his hotel room. A cleaner found the room completely destroyed the next morning, meaning we will need to stay somewhere else from now on. Apparently though, there was a smashed piece of wood from the desk left on the bed which had an old message from years gone by written on the underside: "Rod's Quip of the Day - You can use ultra super late braking on every corner!"
Katsuo doesn't always take words to heart, but he was certainly mumbling something to himself back at Team Pezzarinho HQ in the simulator... William ManorSkill 23 -> 24 Total 42 -> 43 -100,000 CR Katsuo MatsushitaSkill 25 -> 26 Total 49 -> 50 -150,000 CR Ricardo Lionheart
